Firstly I would like to say thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and reading into this important matter that is very close to my heart.

I have recently made a pledge to build an ‘Orphan Room’ for an orphanage in Gaziantep, Turkey whilst at a fundraising dinner held by Aghosh UK. This pledge was made to keep orphan children from Syria and Turkey in education, and provide support to get them into education where needed.

Over 50,000 people have lost their lives, and more than 100,000 others were severely injured in Turkey and Syria after a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck at 4:17 a.m. on Monday 6th February 2023 whilst families were sleeping.

Millions of people had been split up from their loved ones under the open sky that night, and are still living in unimaginable conditions needing urgent emergency shelter, hot meals and basic necessities and relief. The people of Syria and Turkey have left their homes, leaving everything behind out of the fear of being inside unstable buildings if another earthquake hits as over 160,000 buildings were damaged or collapsed in the previous hit.

Due to this tragedy, a lot of children lost their parents. In 2018, ‘Aghosh Home Turkey’ opened for children who had lost their parents near the Turkey and Syria boarder. However, due to the severe damages caused by the earthquakes and the current construction work going on to repair and rebuild the city, the Aghosh Home in Gaziantep Turkey is no longer in use.

We are aiming to raise sufficient funds to rebuild an orphanage for Turkish and Syrian children in Gaziantep. I will personally be visiting the Orphanage and will provide you with regular updates regarding the construction work. Aghosh Home Turkey will provide aid in various forms and services including food of high nutritional value, clothing items, accommodation, education, and accessible healthcare to improve the quality of life for underprivileged orphan children conforming to international standards.

Many families in the UK have also been affected by the effects of this natural disaster, they and myself would appreciate any possible donations that you are able to make during this difficult time to help those who are misfortunate.
