I am running the London Marathon 2025 for Amref Health Africa! It's my first ever marathon!

I want to see a world free of infectious diseases, and the work of Amref really resonates with me. I'm a scientist by training and did my PhD on malaria vaccines, and I’ve spent time in malaria affected communities in Kenya. Amref Health Africa is committed to empowering health systems and communities to fight malaria, working in partnership with ministries of health across Africa, donors, communities and other stakeholders, including the WHO. And they don't just focus on malaria, they work in 35 countries to strengthen health systems and improve access to life saving care.

I also have personal experience of just how important timely access to life saving care can be. In 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and having access to a world class healthcare system, the very best treatments and an exceptional team of healthcare professionals gave me the best possible outcome and an excellent prognosis. I have just reached one year of disease free survival with full hope of many more to come.

I am so grateful to be back in full health, and back to running regularly, and want to use my regained fitness to help improve the health of others. I have never run a marathon before and I am so proud to be running my first ever marathon for Amref Health Africa, and I really want to smash my fundraising goals!
