Story
Some people join fitness challenges to get get “shredded” or “marathon-ready”, but my aspiration is to become “officially overweight.” I weigh 98kg, placing me firmly in the “Obese” category. The Buddha taught that all things are impermanent; unfortunately, my waistline has been remarkably persistent.
Responding to the Get Fit for Guhyaloka appeal, I’m committing to lose 15kg (ie. three large bags of rice!) by Padmasambhava Day on 20 Sept. My goal is to raise £250 per kilo. Please give generously to: 1) ensure Guhyaloka remains a place for men to develop awareness, love and wisdom, and 2) support my mission to avoid premature visits to the Bardo.
This challenge will require deep Buddhist practice: renouncing tea-break biscuits, battling sloth and torpor to reach the gym, and facing the Dukkha of my craving (specifically for almond croissants). Stay tuned for weekly updates on my journey to 83 kg!
