Story
Team Kay - Laura Tav, Rachael, Lizi, Hannah, Louisa, Molly, Mel and Shani
In memory of Kaleigh Bold (Prentice)
23rd January 1988 - 20th December 2023
On 19th September 2026 a few of the girls - Laura Tav, Rachael, Lizi, Hannah, Louisa, Molly, Mel and Shani - are heading up to the Lake District for the CoppaFeel trek, trekking a marathon in a day, over 26 miles / 42.2 kilometres through the hills, in memory of our friend Kay.
Kay was a vibrant, funny, larger than life, loving friend. She was also a wife, mummy to Harry, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, colleague and neighbour, loved by so many. She was young and ambitious with a life of laughter and content happiness ahead of her. Sadly, Kay was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in 2019 aged 31, and underwent intense chemotherapy and a double mastectomy along with other operations and treatments, she was given the all clear in August 2020 and approached life with an ‘every moment is for living’ attitude. Following an amazing hen do in Barcelona in August 2022 and shortly before her beautiful wedding where she was due to marry the love of her life Anthony, Kaleigh was tragically told her cancer had metastasised and spread to her lungs, brain, bones, liver and neck.
On Wednesday 20th December 2023, Kaleigh very sadly lost her battle with cancer aged 35. She is missed terribly by all those who knew her. It was an absolute pleasure to be her friend, we are so lucky to have had Kay in our lives, it was far too short but the time of knowing her, laughing with her, crying with her (or cry-laugh-crying at the same time) and loving her is incredibly special to us all. She will never be forgotten. (She was far too funny, loved all the attention, and she’d be fuming if we did and haunt us forever!)
We are trekking for CoppaFeel, an amazing charity with a mission to ensure all breast cancers in young people are diagnosed early and accurately. They work to ensure that checking your breasts, and knowing your body and what’s normal for you, becomes a part of your routine from a young age. We want to support a charity that educates all people, from school age, to be aware of the importance of knowing how to check their bodies regularly.
You can find out more about the charity here: https://coppafeel.org
And the trek here if you want to see what we’ve signed up for!
Any donations towards the worthy cause of Coppafeel in Kay’s memory would be very much appreciated.
