Story
On the 30th June 2024, I am taking part in the IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton Challenge, to raise money for St Catherine's Hospice in memory of my grandma, Patricia Rimmer. In December 2023 my grandma was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, and her wish was to be able to remain in the comfort of her own home. With the support of the amazing nurses at St Catherine’s Hospice my grandma was able to remain at her home until she sadly passed away in March 2024.
St Catherine’s hospice cares for patients and their families who are affected by life shortening illnesses, such as cancer. Along with the amazing care my grandma received, the hospice provided the specialist bed and other equipment that enabled her to spend her last weeks in her own home surrounded by her family.
Knowing that my efforts could help other families that need this support, is all the motivation I need to complete this challenge.
The IRONMAN 70.3, challenges me to complete a 1.2 mile outdoor swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run.
I would be extremely grateful for any donations received towards this amazing charity.
