Shay smiles was founded in memory of 13 year old Shayen Patel who passed in September 2020. The charity helps families of children diagnosed with tumours through financial assistance and also funds research to help advance the desperate need to cure cancer.

On the 21st February I will be taking part in swimathon for my cousin Shay who sadly passed away from cancer on 1 September 2020. Just 22 months after being diagnosed with Grade 4 glioblastoma tumour.

Shay and I were cousins, we were very close. We spent a lot time together from playing football to playing video games to go to watch football. Shay was kind and caring person who cared about helping other.
