Story
In September 2023, our bright, fearless Skye rapidly went from racing her brothers and singing “This Girl Is On Fire” to losing the ability to walk, talk, and even hold her head up. She was locked into a body rapidly failing her. Doctors told us it would likely be her last Christmas and referred her to the palliative care team.
After endless tests, biopsies and lumber punctures, no cause could be found. Doctors told us it would likely be her last Christmas. We were heartbroken, but with her brothers by her side, Skye kept fighting.
Skye is a SWAN (Syndrome Without A Name), one of the few children in the world with no official diagnosis.
With the help of Southampton and Great Ormond clinical teams and steroid and immunoglobulin therapy, Skye has fought to get back her smile, her voice, and even her ability to walk (like a zombie) – our fiercely independent lil miracle. But now the treatment has been stopped as it is not a long term option and to observe to see if she declines again. Her future is uncertain again.
Julia’s House Children’s Hospice wrapped us in love when our world fell apart – giving us joy, comfort, and precious memories in the hardest days of our lives.
Julia’s House is still by our side as we go into uncharted territory again. Please donate so they can keep giving families like ours the gift of time, love, and hope when it’s needed most.
I am taking on this challenge because I want to give back to Julia’s House so they can continue help families like mine facing unimaginable heartbreak - the knowledge that their child may not live into adulthood.
Julia’s House provides frequent, flexible care for children with life-limited or life-threatening conditions to give their parents a much-needed break.
Amazingly, Julia’s House has to raise 93 per cent of the money it needs each year to run this vital service which is why I have chosen to support them. Your kind sponsorship will make a life-changing difference to these families and mine.
