Kyle’s Ultramarathon for the Bargoed (Stroke) Ward at Ystrad Mynach Hospital (F568)

Dragon Coastal Ultramarathon (30 Miles) · 21 July 2024
On the 21st of July I will be running the Dragon Coastal Ultramarathon (30 Miles / 48 KM) from Dunraven Bay (Bridgend) along the Wales Coast Path to Cardiff Bay, with the goal of raising funds for the extremely personal cause of stroke rehabilitation.
As many of you know, my cousin, the lovely Penny, was struck down by an incredibly debilitating stroke during December 2021. To our horror, we were informed that we would have to come to terms with the unthinkable news that she wasn’t going to survive and we all hurried to say our last goodbyes. Unbelievably, but true to her unfailing zest for life, she battled bravely and pulled through. Penny spent the next 9 months healing in hospital, primarily on the Bargoed stroke ward at Ystrad Mynach Hospital, which enabled her to begin her rehabilitation so she could do what we all yearned for her to do, return back home.. As a family we would cherish giving something back to the ward that made it possible for Penny to recover. I have personally spoken to Penny’s consultant and he has confirmed the money raised will be used for training, educational and research type activity, specially for the Bargoed ward (F568).
Any money you can spare will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
