Story
I’m running the 2026 London Marathon in memory of my Grandad — someone I loved deeply and miss every day. For the last several years of his life, he lived with severe neurological problems, and towards the last couple of years developed dementia. As his condition progressed, his body gradually stopped responding the way it once had. Watching his independence slip away was devastating. Simple things became impossible, and in time he could no longer walk, relying on a wheelchair and mobility scooter. Seeing someone you love change in that way, piece by piece, is something that never leaves you.
I’m running for Brain Research UK in his honour, so that future families might be spared the heartbreak ours went through. The research they fund has the power to change lives — to slow, stop, or even prevent conditions that take so much from the people we love.
I’m not a runner. Taking on a 16-week winter training plan will push me far outside my comfort zone, physically and mentally. There will be cold mornings, tired legs, and moments when giving up feels easier — but every mile I run is for my Grandad, and for everyone still fighting these conditions.
If you’re able to sponsor me, you won’t just be helping me reach the finish line. You’ll be helping fund vital research, honour my Grandad’s memory, and give hope to families facing the same journey. Every donation, no matter the size, truly means the world.
I’ll be sharing updates along the way, so please keep in touch and follow my journey as the training begins. Thank you once again for your kindness and support — it genuinely means more than I can say. Here’s to the London Marathon 2026.
