Lachlan's PTI fundraiser

Lachlan Iversen is raising money for The PTI

Tour de Mont Blanc

The PTI delivers a wide range of professional development courses to support teachers at all stages of their career. Passionate, motivated, and supported teachers provide high quality, enjoyable education to every child, regardless of background or ability.

Story

Hi all! In September I will be running the infamous Tour de Mont Blanc for The Prince’s Teaching Institute. I will be taking on the challenge solo, navigating 170km of terrain and ascending 10,000 meters of elevation across France, Switzerland and Italy.

I am raising money for The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI), a charity that provides teachers in the education sector with professional development to combat teacher attrition. Its broader mission is to allow students from disadvantaged backgrounds to receive a higher quality of education through a teaching style that is both more passionate and in greater depth.

I am choosing to support The PTI because I believe that students from disadvantaged backgrounds deserve to be supported by an education system that helps everybody. Having been lucky enough to be taught by some of the most interesting and truly passionate teachers in the country, I know that huge bounds in learning and enjoyment stem from the enthusiasm and atmosphere a teacher brings to a lesson. Therefore, supporting our teachers is crucial to the success of the future generation.

Since the establishment of The PTI in 2005/2006 by the Prince of Wales at the time, the charity has been able to provide continuous professional development to teachers in 18% of secondary schools across England and Wales. This has resulted in thousands of improved educations and brighter futures for many.
