Story

Hi everyone, I’m Kee and this year for our chosen fundraiser for Macmillian we are climbing Pen Y Fan.

In May last year, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to go through months of gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and losing her hair was incredibly hard for her. Throughout it all, Macmillan were there every step of the way — offering support, advice, and even providing her with a wig grant that made a huge difference to her confidence.

In February, she finally rang the bell after completing her final radiotherapy session, and it was one of the proudest moments of our lives.

I work at a Greene King restaurant in Gloucester called The Wheatstone Inn, where Macmillan is our main charity partner. As a company, we raise around £3 million a year to support the amazing work they do across the UK.

This year, myself and two colleagues — Elliot and Ali — have decided to push ourselves out of our comfort zone and take on a challenge we’ve never attempted before: climbing Pen y Fan. None of us are experienced hikers, but we want to do something meaningful to give back to the charity that supported my mum when she needed it most.

We know times are tough for everyone right now, but if you’re able to donate anything at all, it would mean the world to us. Every share, like, or donation — big or small — is truly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support.
