This year, Lanark Young Farmers are proud to support OCHRE – The Oesophageal Cancer Charity in memory of our dear friend and past member, Jimmy Warnock.

Jimmy was a tireless advocate for our club, and Young Farmers for decades. He would always offer his time, guidance and support when asked without question. From being a committed member himself and then moving on to being club chair and president, he served every role with distinction and helped shape the club into what it is today, for that we will be eternally grateful.

Beyond the club, Jimmy’s dedication to the farming community and his passion for educating young people on where their food comes from, was admirable and rightfully recognised with an MBE, honouring his exceptional contribution and lifelong service to the agricultural industry.

It’s been an absolute honour to have had such a dedicated and respected mentor within our club. He will be forever in our hearts and fondly remembered for the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

OCHRE works tirelessly to raise awareness of oesophageal cancer, fund vital research, and support patients and families affected by the disease across Scotland and the UK. Their work helps provide hope, guidance and life-changing support to so many people facing incredibly difficult times. (ochrecharity.org.uk)

Throughout this year, we will be holding a range of charity events in Jimmy’s memory, raising funds to support the amazing work OCHRE continues to do. We hope our efforts not only honour Jimmy’s life and legacy, but also help make a difference to other families affected by oesophageal cancer.
