Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

On Sunday 12 October 2025 30 runners are taking on the Royal Parks Half to raise a combined £18,000 for The Listening Place, enough to fully fund our ongoing, face-to-face support for 60 people who feel life is no longer worth living.

Story

In the UK we lose someone to suicide every 75 minutes and it is the leading cause of death in men under the age of 50 and in all adults under 35. Despite this, effective support is hard to find.

The Listening Place (TLP) meets this need by providing free, face-to-face, ongoing support to those who feel suicidal. And they know that their support works, with visitors reporting a highly-significant reduction in how suicidal they feel after 3 and 6 months of support.

Lara both works and volunteers for The Listening Place, and Thea volunteered there in 2018. Their mum, Hils, is a Listening and Supervising Volunteer. We all feel the value of TLP’s work very deeply.

This is Lara's first Half Marathon Ever! And training for it is the first time Lara and Thea will have run together consistently since school. We are so happy to be inspiring each other to get out there during the week, and we are really looking forward to tackling 13.1 miles together, as well as many parkruns and 10ks in the run-up.
