In October over 100 S6 pupils and staff from Largs Academy will run 5K along Largs promenade to raise money for Mary's Meals.

Mary’s Meals is an international charity which provides life-changing school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest communities. The promise of a good meal brings hungry children into the classroom, where they can gain an education and better opportunities for the future. The meals make it possible for hungry children to come to school and gives them the energy they need to concentrate and participate in class.

Mary's Meals serve more than 3 million children every school day. Incredibly, it costs just £19.15 to provide a child with meals in a place of education for a whole school year. Because of Mary's Meals low-cost, volunteer led approach a single school meal costs just 10p on average. Their locally owned school feeding programmes take place in 16 countries around the world.
