Story
Latics to the Limits: One Challenge. One Purpose. One Oldham.
In August 2026, Sophie Hunt, the Female Football Pathway Manager for Oldham Athletic Community Trust, will be taking on the biggest challenge she has ever faced: running from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just 24 days.
That means covering around 860 miles on foot, averaging approximately 35 miles per day, all to raise vital funds for communities across Oldham.
This challenge, called Latics to the Limits, is about more than running. It is about pushing boundaries, bringing people together, and using one huge journey to make a lasting difference across the borough.
All funds raised will be split 50/50 between Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Fullcircle, helping both organisations continue their work supporting children, young people, families, and communities across Oldham.
Why Sophie Is Doing This?
Oldham is a place full of pride, resilience, and community spirit, but many people across the borough face real challenges.
Through this challenge, Sophie wants to raise awareness, create momentum, and generate funds that can go directly back into projects that provide positive opportunities, safe spaces, trusted support, and meaningful experiences for people across Oldham.
Sophie knows this challenge is going to test her physically and mentally, but every mile will have a purpose behind it.
Supporting Oldham Athletic Community Trust
As the official charity of Oldham Athletic AFC, Oldham Athletic Community Trust is committed to positive action that helps to address the inequalities faced in and by communities across the borough, in order to create ‘A Better Oldham’ for everyone.
The funds raised through this challenge will help OACT continue to deliver meaningful programmes that inspire, include, and support local people across the borough.
Supporting Fullcircle
Fullcircle has been supporting young people across Oldham for 15 years, creating safe spaces, trusted relationships, and opportunities for young people to thrive.
Our community is facing tougher challenges than ever. By supporting Sophie on this Latics to the Limits challenge, you are not just helping someone cross a finish line. You are helping support the next 15 years of opportunity for Oldham’s young people.
