Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This May Laura, Emily and I will be doing the Wild Challenge Weekend to raise funds for Rainbows Hospice in memory of my niece, Grace.
We lost Grace in 2022 after a battle with mental illness and she spent the last few weeks of her life at Rainbows, being cared for by their wonderful team.
The care and support they provided through this traumatic time was amazing and made a huge difference to the end of a life that was far too short. Grace was given 24 hour care, including being taken into a swimming pool with her sister and Mum, spending time in sensory rooms and her bed being taken outside so she could feel the sunshine on her face. Her Mum and twin sister were able to stay too, so they could spend as much time with Grace as possible before she died. The team cared for them as though they were part of their family, even providing fresh meals that Grace's grandparents could take home so they didn't have the stress of cooking at such a difficult time.
All of this is only possible because of the donations that keep Rainbows going and I am so very grateful that my friends Laura and Emily have chosen to take part in this fundraiser with me. Raising money will help me give something back and allow Rainbows to carry on the wonderful work they do with poorly children and their families.
What will we be doing?
This is going to be a challenge, over two days we'll be hiking, rock & river scrambling through caves, tunnels and up hillsides, trekking, canyoning, abseiling and waterfall jumping. We expect to be scared, exhausted and for our mental and physical strength to be tested. We'll be facing some fears and really pushing ourselves way out of our comfort zones, please support us and make this challenge truly worthwhile.
