Story
On 4th October 2026, I’ll be running the Lincoln Half Marathon to raise money for First Steps ED — a charity very close to my heart and one I’m incredibly proud to work for.
Running has become my way of clearing my head, looking after my mental health and finding some calm when life feels busy. I’ve completed a half marathon before, but it has been 7 years and 2 children since my last one, so this feels like a pretty big personal challenge!
Through my work at First Steps ED, I see 1st-hand how eating disorders and eating difficulties can affect not only the person struggling, but the whole family. I have the privilege of supporting people at different stages of their journey, alongside parents and carers who are often doing everything they can to help someone they love.
Having somewhere to feel heard, understood and supported can make such a difference. Recovery isn’t always straightforward, but the right support can bring hope and help people move towards a life beyond an eating disorder.
First Steps ED provides 1-1 support, befriending, groups and workshops for children, young people, adults and families across the UK.
If you’re able to donate, however much, I’d be genuinely grateful — and every donation will give me an extra boost as I take on the 13.1 miles!
Thank you so much for supporting me and this very special charity ❤️
