Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June I’m going to be taking on the West Highland Way race. 10 years ago I walked it in 7 days and would have laughed at the suggestion of running it in one go but here we are - this running malarkey escalated!! It will be the biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on with my furthest distance to date 50 of the 96 miles! It’s taken a huge amount of training and preparation particularly as we also move house 3 weeks prior to the race!
When my work Davidsons Chemist announced Scottish Mountain Rescue as our charity for the coming year it really resonated with me to support their cause. I have huge admiration for my friends in Killin who give many hours of their time to our local mountain rescue team, helping people who like me go out to enjoy the fantastic hills we have on our doorstep and unfortunately find themselves in bother. The sad passing of the hugely experienced and talented ultra runner David Parish on the cape wrath trail and the walker on our local Lawers munros at the end of May were a stark reminder and another little nudge towards me setting up this page. We are able to go out into the hills feeling that little bit safer thanks to these wonderful volunteers and the money we can raise goes directly towards helping them carry out this essential role.
