Mrs Van D and I have decided to take on the challenge of a half marathon!

We're running to hopefully raise lots of money for a local charity, Home-Start East Surrey, that we support at Dunottar. It is an amazing charity, where the staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that families in the local area receive the support that they need through difficult times. Please donate what you can - big or small - to ensure we can continue to support our local children to ensure best outcomes for them in the future.

Here is a little bit of information about what this amazing charity provide for our local community:

Home-Start East Surrey (HSES) is a lovely local early help family charity which provides regular support, both emotional and practical, and befriending and coaching, to families with children under the age of 11 with emerging needs, who are struggling to cope with difficulties such as disability, mental health, multiple births, isolation and bereavement.

Our bank of over 45 carefully vetted and trained volunteers visit families weekly and work alongside parents, in their own homes weekly for up to six months, to help them cope with the difficulties they face. Our volunteers are parents who understand how hard it can be to raise young children.

We are the only voluntary organisation that provides home visiting support to struggling families with young children in Redhill, Reigate, Horley, Tandridge, Dorking and other parts of East Surrey. Last year we supported 337 local young children in families by either our volunteer home visiting service, nurture group for babies under 1, invited play sessions or parenting courses. Our small charity changes the lives of children in the Redhill, Merstham, Horley, Reigate, Tandridge and Mole Valley areas. We need over 200k a year to continue to make a difference, and every year, demand for our service increases.
