Story

Losing my beautiful big sister Jess by suicide in 2011 hit me like a truck. Bleak misery surrounded my family and we quickly went from vibrant to powerless. A part of me has been broken ever since. Incomplete, I carried on. I couldn't even talk about how she died...It was awful.

My Mum never recovered enough to return to any kind of "normal" She'd lost herself in despair and guilt. She couldn't bare the world without her firstborn little girl. How could she?

11th March 2020 - Mum decided she had had enough of fighting her way through life and ended it. I found her. A nightmare I will regrettably never forget.

Two suicides struck one small family. A family such as mine who cherished each other dearly. How? How could this happen? The death of my dear Mum hit us like an earthquake. My world has never quite been the same.

Jess was only 27 and Mum was 63 when she died.

So - I'll never stop shouting about how important mental health is and how vital it is to know you are not alone.

Life is tough. Sometimes it feels too much to handle - so you can talk to Samaritans. They won’t judge or tell you what to do. They’re there to listen so no-one has to face tough times alone. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans answers a call for help. Samaritans can be contacted round the clock, for free, on 116 123, day or night, 365 days a year.
