Gabi and Zach's Sky Dive for Nations Together

Laura Cox is raising money for Nations Together

Sky Dive · 1 June 2026

We support a community of people living in the Hai district of Tanzania, East Africa, employing local staff to run the Activity Centre, supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities, through person-centred planning, to feel fulfilled and become safely integrated into the communities they live.  We aim to encourage social inclusion, respect and acceptance through raising the awareness and understanding of inclusion in the community. The activities may include: music, art & crafts, numeracy & literacy, vocational skills and social outings with the community.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. It's not me at all but these two very courageous young people :)

Gabi’s Story

In 2024, I participated as a volunteer with Nations Together in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, where I observed the organization’s efforts to support individuals with learning disabilities and their families. Many families experience misunderstanding and, at times, mistreatment due to limited awareness about learning disabilities. This can lead to significant emotional burden on mothers until they are able to attend the awareness support group facilitated by the dedicated Tanzanian staff team. The staff members are committed to providing an engaging and supportive environment for all participants. Where a nutritional meal and health needs are met. My most memorable experience as a volunteer was leading a thumb painting project where all of the young people became a part of the community by placing their thumb prints on a tree, representing togetherness. The service currently offers day care, with plans to establish a future 24-hour residential facility designed to promote independence and provide new opportunities in a safe space.

Zach’s Story

Hi my name is Zach and I am 17 years old, completing a sky dive is a personal goal of mine and raising funds for Nations Together enables me to achieve this while supporting a meaningful cause. I hope to volunteer in Tanzania in 2027, inspired by the positive impact I have witnessed through the project. Living with Laura, the founder, provides additional insight as I frequently observe the project's progress through WhatsApp video calls, photographs, and videos. I can confidently state that all funds raised will directly support ongoing running costs and contribute towards essential improvements, such as installing a security fence around the project site.

Both Gabi and I are nervously excited and we really do appreciate your support for our sky dive on the 1st June (weather permitting) as we strive to reach our fundraising target and more —thank you!
