Exeter Great West Half Marathon · 21 May 2023

PDLF was started in 1983 to provide equipment and facilities to enable patients to have the best possible treatment and supportive care locally. This has included three new units and facilities to enable stem cell transplantation and a molecular biology laboratory in Plymouth.

Story

Thank you for taking a look at our Just Giving Page.

Myself and my brother Rob have decided to raise money for Plymouth & District Leukaemia Fund by running the Exeter Great West run on the 21st May. This will be a Half Marathon distance of 13.1 miles! This will be a huge challenge for both of us!

As you probably know my brother Rob has been having treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia since August 2019. Most recently he has had a stem cell transplant on 7th December 2021 during his stay on Bracken Ward Derriford. Plymouth & District Leukaemia Fund has helped to fund the conversion of Bracken ward to the new South West Peninsula Transplant Service. This enables local people to be treated close to home without the need to travel to Bristol hospital. In 2012 Dr Hannah Hunter and Dr Patrick Medd undertook the first Matched Unrelated Donor Transplant enabling patients to have the full range of modern treatments locally.

Myself and Rob, together with your help, would like to support Plymouth & District Leukaemia Fund to continue their fantastic work to treat people with leukaemia locally.
