Story
The last time I was spotted on the river Severn was about 30 years ago, where I spent most of my mis-spent teenage youth in a rowing boat trying to chase those elusive PBs whilst trying not to completely pee off the local fishermen! So, when the opportunity arose to canoe 14.5 miles of my old paddling ground, the beautiful route of Bridgenorth to Bewdley, for the wonderful cause that is KEMP Hospice, I jumped at the chance.
We have six boats from Lucart Hygiene taking part and hope to raise enough funds to really make a difference to the support that KEMP can give to those who are living with life limiting conditions, their carers and families, and those who have been affected by bereavement. I decided to post a picture of me on the bank of the Severn back in 1992 as this is the year I lost my dad. He was always on the river bank supporting me whatever the weather and I often find solace when by the river for this reason. I know first hand what a difference bereavement support can make so this cause is close to my heart.
On a lighter note, I have won the canoe partner jackpot in the form of Adele Vater-Lambert, who happens to be a very excellent canoeist :-)
Please spare a few quid if you can, it would really mean a lot.
Thank you,
Laura
