Story

Embark on an Epic Journey to Change Lives: Support Our Sahara Trek!

Set up in memory of Rosie May Storrie, age 10, who was brutally murdered in December 2003 by a 17 year old boy she knew. The Rosie May Foundation is a little charity with a BIG vision committed to creating a living legacy for children to give them a future that Rosie May was denied. "Make A Difference Together"

This year I am doing something each month to support the Rosie May foundation and make a difference. Including trading comfort for camels in October. This October, I'm joining a brave team of Rosie May trekkers to trade the comforts of home for an extraordinary adventure across the breath-taking Sahara Desert. We’ll endure scorching heat and challenging terrain—all for a cause close to our hearts.

After the loss of Rosie May the Storrie's decided to get away the following Christmas season by visiting South East Asia. On Christmas day a palm tree was planted in memory of Rosie May and the very next day as they stood before the Indian ocean, one of the deadliest natural disasters ever to be recorded struck. The boxing day tsunami of 2004 claimed over 230,000 lives in 14 different countries. Miraculously the Storrie family survived as did Rosie May's palm tree which stood boldly amongst the devastation, a symbol of hope some may say. The Rosie May Foundation was created with this in mind. Hope.

The charity supports children in both Sri Lanka and Nepal as well as helping here in the UK. With the money raised you will be contributing towards a child’s safety, resources for struggling mothers, educational resources, supporting female farmers & survivors of trafficking. And above all you will be providing Hope!!

Why are we doing this trek? Because every step we take will help provide hope and opportunity to children and families supported by the Rosie May Foundation. Your donation directly funds life-changing projects, including education for children in Sri Lanka and safe transport initiatives empowering women in India.

Each of us has committed to raising at least £1,000, a contribution that makes a massive difference:

£25 provides a school bag filled with essential supplies for a child.

£50 funds a week’s worth of after-school English lessons.

We’re not just walking for the experience—we’re walking for brighter futures, safer communities, and a world where every child has a chance!
