I will be joining team Petals to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October to raise awareness and vital funds to ensure bereaved parents get the support they need.

Praying that no parent should need this service but heartbreakingly my husband’s cousin and wife, Sarah and Katie, did. Their beautiful first born daughter, Marnie, was stillborn at 37 weeks.

Although cut so tragically short, Marnie has brought so much love into the world and brought a positive impact on those who love her. Through Sarah and Katie her legacy lives on and I am so proud of them both.

In May, Marnie’s darling little sister, Alma, was born and in doing so bringing as much love into the world as her sister has.

I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Petals, the baby loss counselling charity. They provide a specialist counselling service for women, men and couples who have suffered the devastating loss of a pregnancy or death of a baby.

It is a sad reality that in the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 200 babies will be stillborn every year, over 5000 pregnancies will be terminated for medical reasons each year, and 24 babies die shortly after birth every single week.

Petals deliver hundreds of counselling sessions every month. Each session costs £80, I would like my sponsorship to fund as many sessions as possible, so many more parents can be supported.
