Walking 630 miles around the South West Coast Path

We provide vulnerable women across England and Wales with free legal advice and information so they can navigate the law and legal processes with confidence and live their lives safely and free from abuse. We also campaign to improve the law for women and increase women’s access to justice.

Story

In March 2020, I had planned to hike the South West Coast Path on my own; the idea of carrying everything I needed in one bag and moving forwards every day was really appealing to me. I was floundering, I’d come out of a terrible relationship, wasn’t honouring what I really wanted to be doing, and had had to leave London because I couldn’t afford to stay. The walk felt like a respite. The pandemic put a stop to that and then things got busy.

In 2024 and 2025 I presented my play Lynn Faces about a woman who starts a punk band inspired by Lynn from Alan Partridge in a bid to find hope after the end of an abusive relationship. We did a post show talk with representatives from Rights of Women and Southall Sisters, both incredible charities. It was really powerful.

I felt worthless by the time I got out of my own abusive relationship, It’s taken years and years to fully understand, I’m still making discoveries. I've decided to do the walk now, five years on, because I realise there is a long shadow after abusive. I want to shine a light on the issues by walking the 630 miles on my own for Rights of Women.
