Story

If you know me, you’ll know that running the London Marathon has been something I’ve wanted to do for many, many years. I’ve entered the ballot time and time again and applied for charity places that have meant so much to me, but I’ve never been lucky enough to get a place.

So when Macmillan offered me the opportunity to run the 2027 TCS London Marathon, I knew I couldn’t say no.

Cancer has affected my family more times than I ever wish it had. My father-in-law, Tony, was diagnosed with bladder cancer. My mum faced breast cancer. My grandad battled kidney cancer. And more recently, my incredibly brave cousin, Sam, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and is about to begin his treatment.

Like so many others, we’ve experienced the fear, uncertainty and emotional rollercoaster that comes with a cancer diagnosis. We’ve also seen first-hand how important the right support can be—not just for the person going through treatment, but for everyone who loves them.

That’s why I’m running for Macmillan.

Macmillan is there for people from the moment they hear the words “you have cancer”, throughout treatment, and beyond. They provide practical advice, emotional support and a reassuring hand to hold when people need it most.

I’ll be taking on 26.2 miles and aiming to raise £2,750 so Macmillan can continue to support people and families just like mine.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference. Thank you so much for supporting me, this incredible charity, and everyone whose lives have been affected by cancer. I promise to give this marathon everything I’ve got. 💚
