Charity Abseil down Guildford Cathedral · 8 June 2024

We support the Atkinson Morley Wing at St George’s Hospital London who treat brain diseases and disorders. We aim to raise much needed funds to support the advancement of treatment and research and to purchase equipment for paediatric and adult neurosurgery not available through the NHS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

0n the 8th June 2024 I will be taking part in a charity abseil at Guildford Cathedral to raise funds for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation. I'll be climbing the Tower’s spiral staircase of 249 steps to a height of 160ft (49m) ,enjoying the wonderful panoramic views of Guildford from the 15ft (5m) tall Golden Angel … and then climbing over the top!

The next important piece of equipment for which the John King Brain Tumour Foundation are fundraising for is to purchase a £125,000 Stealth Autoguide Robotics Guidance Platform for St George’s Hospital Neurosurgical Department which can't be funded by the NHS.

This state-of-the-art equipment will enable surgeons to perform precision, minimally invasive cranial surgery including biopsies, electrode placements, laser ablations and tumour removal. The robotic guide will improve both patient and surgeon safety and surgical success e.g. through more accurate positioning of implants, tailored for each patient’s anatomy, shorter surgical time and reduced radiation exposure.

Once purchased, the robotic guide will benefit at least 1,000 cranial surgery patients each year at St George’s Hospital.

We are such a tiny charity with great ambitions so your generosity will make such a huge impact on our fundraising.
