Story
Hi there!
I just wanted to tell you that I’m embarking on a crazy adventure this June! My friends and I are taking part in the last EVER Dumball Rally and we’re driving a rickety and temperamental Vauxhall from Kent to Majorca, all to raise money for the incredible Teenage Cancer Trust. We aim to cover 4000km in 7 days. No mean feat!! We are personally paying for our basic accommodation, ferries, expenses and the flight home. So this means that every penny we raise will go directly to the TCT.
The Dumball Rally - The original fancy dress festival on wheels)
We’ll start in Kent on the 6th June, and our goal is to make it to Palma, Majorca, by the 15th of June. The journey will take us through France, over the Pyrenees, through Portugal, and even down to Gibraltar before hopping on a ferry to Majorca, if our cars make it that far. It's going to be a 10 day test of endurance, teamwork, and a whole lot of patience (especially with our car’s clutch issues!). There will be around 50 teams of 3-4 people each and every team has to have a theme and to wear fancy dress. Our theme is ‘Cars in their Eyes’ so ABBA, Queen and Spice Girls outfits will be in abundance!!! I also forgot to mention that we are turning our old banger into a glitter ball disco!!
Why am I doing this?
Trust me, this is not a holiday – it's going to be a real challenge. The rally isn’t just a road trip; it’s a test of resilience and stamina. We will push our cars to their limits.
We can’t promise we won’t break down every day, get stuck waiting for help, or have wacky encounters with border control and, hopefully, friendly locals. And of course, we’re doing it all to help an amazing cause.
