Story
I am running the London Marathon for a truly fantastic charity, South Hampshire Deaf Children’s Society (SHDCS).
SHDCS provides vital support, events, and regular get-togethers for deaf children and their families, creating a strong and welcoming community for those living with hearing loss. This sense of belonging is incredibly important, giving children the chance to build confidence, form lifelong friendships, and grow up knowing they are not alone.
The charity also provides grants to help bridge the gap between hearing and deaf children. These grants can be used to support learning by reducing the challenges of group environments and enabling more personalised, one-to-one support where it is needed most.
The days out and family events organised and funded by SHDCS are invaluable not only for deaf children, but also for their siblings and parents. They provide a safe and supportive space to meet other families on the same journey — to share experiences, offer advice, and simply enjoy watching their children thrive alongside others who understand their world.
By supporting my London Marathon run, you are helping SHDCS continue this life-changing work for children and families across South Hampshire.
