The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation is a new organisation launched in 2012 with a single purpose- organising and funding weddings for terminally ill people. There are many men and women in the UK living with life limiting conditions or terminal illnesses who long to marry their special partner in life. We, at The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation believe that few things in life can be more important or rewarding, than giving such a person a chance to have their dream wedding day, with all the excitement, love and happiness that brings. As we are fully aware that time can be precious, we are able to organise the arrangements against the clock where required. For many families, the memory of a happy wedding day can be a cherished moment. Surrounded by family and friends, enjoying each other’s company and being full of joy and laughter; a wedding day is an occasion where everyone can look back and remember that special event, and smile.

Story

I’m running for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, a charity that gives terminally ill people the chance to have the wedding of their dreams, because love deserves to be celebrated no matter how much time is left. ❤️

I thought I'd given up on the idea of running a marathon. I’m nearly 40 with long-standing knee, foot, and ankle injuries and before my foot surgery, just walking properly was often a struggle. But here I am, lacing up my brand-new trainers (because every new activity deserves a new toy) and doing it for something far bigger than myself.

I am one of the lucky ones. I may feel out of shape right now, but I have my feet, I have my health, I have my life, and I have so much to look forward to. Many people aren’t that lucky. They wish they could have another go at life. They wonder what they could have done differently. They sit with that unanswerable question "Why me?"

Life can be so unfair 🥺

That’s why I’m running for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, a charity that gives terminally ill people the chance to have the wedding of their dreams because love deserves to be celebrated no matter how much time is left. ❤️

Imagine knowing your time is running out but still longing for that one perfect day. The vows, the laughter, the dress, the suit, the music, the shared joy with family and friends. A day that makes you forget, even for a little while, the pain, the fear, the unbearable reality that your time is slipping away. A day that says I love you in the most profound way. Some never get that chance, but this charity makes it happen.

I don’t have a personal sob story. Well, I suppose I have plenty, but they are no worse than anyone else’s. Life has its ups and downs, you win some, you lose some. But my heart breaks when I think about how precious life is. Knowing that so many people receive the devastating news that their time is running out with no way to change it is unbearable.

It makes me stop and reflect on how lucky I am. Lucky to still have time. Lucky to have the chance to set goals, to run, to spend time with my family and loved ones, to make changes in my life and shape my future. But what truly drives me is making my miles count for something meaningful.

So here’s the deal. I’ll do the hard part. The training, the sweat, the pain, the finish line (🤞) . All I ask is that you help me make a difference. No donation is too small. Every penny goes towards giving someone their fairytale, their happiest day, their moment of love in a life that may not have enough of them left.

And if you can’t donate, maybe you can help in other ways. By sharing this page, by spreading the word, or even by supporting the charity with wedding-related donations, or even joining me for a run!

Well, I guess now there’s no turning back. So here goes nothing...

People say love conquers all. Let’s prove it. 💜

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Xxx
