Our fantastic #TeamMDUK runners are taking on the London Marathon 2026 to make every step count in the race to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

I am Laura and I am taking on a huge challenge for my cousin Charlie, Charlie has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and it’s his 18th birthday in 2025 so to celebrate what a warrior he is with the hand he has been dealt, me and my friend are running the London Marathon.

There are a few running events during 2025 and 2026

William (my eldest) and Leo (Sarah’s eldest) who are both 10 are running the great north junior run in September.

The great Cumbrian run 2025 - me, Sarah and Dan

My friend Sarah and myself are running the London Marathon 2026 in April in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK.

The aim of this is to raise awareness for Charlie and others and money raised will be going to Muscular Dystrophy UK, this charity is very close to Charlie and Hannah’s hearts. MDUK are invaluable in the help and support they give to Charlie and his family and so many other families.

There will be fundraising events throughout the year that are already being organised to help meet and hopefully beat fundraising targets. We are very excited about what we have planned already and we hope everybody will enjoy what we have in store.

If anyone wants to join team Charlie’s Angels, for any events we will be doing, you are more than welcome. Stay tuned for future event posts.

Muscles.

We use them to move.

Walk, eat, smile, cry.

Pump blood around our bodies.

To breathe in and out.

Our muscles matter.

By fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy UK, I’m helping to fund world-class research into effective treatments, and life changing support for the 110,000 people in the UK living with a muscle-wasting condition.

All donations and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
