East London Waterworks Park is an idea conceived by local people. At its heart is a community group that wants to acquire and transform the 5.68-hectare ex-Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road in Waltham Forest into a brownfield rainforest offering people the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So here I am supposed to write my 'story' but, next to other pages I have seen, there is not really as story to tell! You do need to know why I am raising money, so here goes!

After retiring from 33 years in public service, I wanted to get involved and volunteer for a local worthy cause. I discovered East London Waterworks Park (ELWP) - a volunteer run, charity based project across Waltham Forest and Hackney where the local community is uniting to transform a concrete-covered depot into community-owned natural swimming ponds and a biodiverse park.

At the age of 60, I feel I do not 'need' presents to celebrate my milestone birthday but if you want to buy me something, please donate in my name to this lovely cause.

Once the project is completed, for those of you who live near, you can take advantage at anytime. For my many friends and family who live further away - come to visit and I will bring you to see what your money has supported.
