Story
It's foster care fortnight from 12th to 25th May and the theme this year is the power of relationships.
It is part of our ongoing work to raise awareness of the 70,000 young people in care across the country and also the vital support their foster carers provide. In support of this, I am taking part in Capstone Foster Care's Trust Trundle 70km challenge.
In this challenge staff and carers will be run/walk/crawling 70km across the fortnight as a show of solidarity with those we support, and hopefully to raise some funds for our agency's charity Capstone Care Leaver's Trust.
Capstone Care Leaver's Trust offer grants and support to care leavers across the country to help set them up with the skills and resources they need to lead as fulfilling a lives as possible! For some looked after young people they are expected to live independently from the young age of 16 years old and they are unlikely to have the same financial and family support systems in place that most young people have so our support is so important.
Please donate what you are willing or able to help us provide support to our wonderful young people!
And for anyone interested in, or who knows anyone interested in becoming a foster carer, feel free to contact Capstone Foster Care on 0800 012 4004 or check out our website www.capstonefostercare.co.uk for more information.
