After years of telling myself, “I’m not a runner,” here I am, signed up for my first 10K! But this isn’t just any race—it’s for an incredibly special cause close to our hearts: the amazing Trinity Hospice.

In 2017, Trinity Hospice provided incredible care for my wonderful mother-in-law, Diane Talbot, during her final weeks fighting stomach cancer. But their support extended beyond Diane—they were a source of comfort and strength for all of us too. Their kindness, compassion and dedication meant the world and now I want to give something back.

For those who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Diane, she was truly one of a kind—beautiful inside and out, the most loving and supportive person and simply the best mother-in-law a girl could ask for. Despite being so poorly, she found the strength to fight on and make it to our wedding day, a memory we will cherish forever.

There isn’t a day that goes by when we don’t miss her. I wish we could pop round for a brew, share a slice of her legendary brownie or sticky toffee pudding and, of course, she’d always tempt me into a glass of rosé! But more than anything, I wish we could pick up the phone to share life’s ups and downs with her. I know she’s watching over us and I like to think she’ll be waiting at the finish line for this one too. (Shouting come on Pinkyyy! - inside joke for those who know haha!)

So, I’m running this race in her memory, for Trinity Hospice and for all the families they continue to support through the hardest of times. If you can spare even a pound or two, we’d be forever grateful for your support in celebrating Diane’s life and helping this incredible charity continue their work.

The Beaverbrooks 10k - participants get to run along a traffic-free Blackpool promenade.

Starting at The Savoy Hotel, runners will head south before turning round at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. They’ll then make their way north and finish back at the Savoy.
