Story
On the 1st February, I lost my dear dad to pancreatic cancer, just 14 weeks from diagnosis. As a family we have lost THE nicest, funniest, gentlest human being ever to walk this earth and there will always be an unimaginable void in our lives.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers. 80% of people are diagnosed too late, mainly due to such vague symptoms. Survival rates for most cancers are improving but sadly this is not the case for this cruel cancer.
The average life expectancy is just 4-6 months!! For my auntie, it was just under 6 weeks!
Early diagnosis is vital. There's been a breakthrough in recent weeks with a new clinical study to develop a breath test that could detect pancreatic cancer early enough to save thousands of lives a year. This study still needs a great deal of funding but the results are already looking promising.
So...On the 10th June this year, I have stupidly decided to throw myself out of a plane for this cause, in the hope that my parachute opens…
Anyone who knows me, knows my fear of heights (despite my love of aircraft) and that I struggle 2 steps up on a stepladder!
I would therefore really appreciate any donations, however small, as not only is this a massive challenge for me…but a very worthy charity to help fund and fight this dreadful cancer.
