Laura's Great North Run for Dementia UK

Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Probably time for an update here...
Sadly Dad lost his battle on 29th April 2025. He got to see me raise almost £3k, and he was really proud :)
This means more than ever now, so I've upped my target!
Thank you xx
I’m running the Great North Run to raise funds for Dementia UK for my Dad.
Dad has been diagnosed with a rare form of dementia - Frontal Temporal Dementia. It mainly affects his frontal lobes and therefore his personality. He’s only 67, and even though he’s only recently had the diagnosis, my sister and I have been fighting for him to get help for a few years - we could tell something was wrong but nobody seemed to know what.
He’s not going to get better, but with support he should hopefully still lead a fulfilling life!
Running is something I’ve only started this last couple of years - and I still don’t like it! Every race I’ve run Dad loves to see the pictures and see my medal - so that is my why
Prepare for lots of whinging while I train…
Thank you for your support ☺️
