Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So, as many of you are aware from following my updates of my life, I have struggled with anorexia for over 18 years.

During this time I have had multiple inpatient stays on different eating disorder units and have had day care and outpatient treatment under different services in different areas of the country. The first few were not the best and didn't do much for me unfortunately, and many teams gave up on me.

Since moving back down to the Midlands I have been under the specialist care of The Aspen Centre eating disorder service in Warwick. I had an admission in 2020 which saved my life at that time, however I was resistant to changing my ways and relapsed when I was discharged. However, the team at The Aspen Centre have NEVER given up on me all the way through their part of my journey (something that hasn't really ever happened for me in any service in the past!)

I then had to have an emergency admission in November 2021 and I was there as an inpatient for almost 10 months. I had all but given up any hope of ever getting better and just wanted to succumb to anorexia and ultimately let it end my life. The staff on the ward would not give up on me, even with my begging for them to let me go, and my anger and resistance towards their help and care. BUT, due to their unrelenting support I was able to turn things around and I then joined their Recovery Programme (which is something that not many eating disorder units offer)

That is what changed my life around after all these years of fighting with such an all consuming illness. I am now proud to say that I am finally out the other side. (It's not plain sailing but I'm actually doing "life" for once)

So, basically, I want to give something back to the service that has saved my life. And who have helped me over the last few years to get to the place I am now, HEALTHY, HAPPY, FREE and now I'm discharged from their service completely!

I want to raise some money for them so that they can make the ward an even better place - whether that be redecorating to make it more comfortable for the patients, new sofas, gardening equipment and flowers/plants to brighten things up there, sensory things, bean bags....anything that they may need to help them out.

SOOOOOO.....I am going to do a SKYDIVE to raise money for The Aspen Centre!

But in order to be able to do so, I NEED YOUR HELP! I know times are hard for everyone right now, but every little counts and I am really hoping that with all your help and support I will be able to reach my fundraising target (and maybe exceed it!)

I want to thank each and every one of you for all being behind me throughout my journey. And for donating anything you are able to. I really, really do appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
