A Walk to Remember - Walking the Camino Way

Just over three years ago, I was told that if I did not change my lifestyle, then in ten years' time, I might not be able to walk again. At that point, I was 49 years old! This news was a wake-up call that spurred me into action. Since then, I have worked incredibly hard to change my lifestyle and have lost ten stone in weight which I am very proud of!

To celebrate this monumental achievement and to further challenge myself, I am walking 100km of the Camino Way from Vigo to Santiago in Spain this April. This journey is not one I am undertaking alone; I will be accompanied by five very special women who have been pillars of support throughout my weight loss journey.

I have also received fantastic support from the charity, the Public Health Collaboration. Their mission resonates deeply with me as they strive to:

• Reverse the type 2 diabetes and prediabetes epidemic.

• Get food addiction recognized as an official diagnosis.

• Undo the childhood obesity crisis.

Their goal is to build a society where everyone enjoys good metabolic health, and I am honoured to serve as an Ambassador for them.
