Wilmslow Half Marathon · 23 March 2025

Spoons is a charity dedicated to supporting families who experience neonatal care in Greater Manchester. Our aim is to help the family navigate their neonatal journey from admission to the neonatal unit and beyond.

Story

Raising money for the charity SPOONS who supported my sister and brother in law when my baby niece entered the world at 33 weeks ✨

“On the 18th November 2023 our world was flipped, our beautiful little girl decided to make a grand entrance into the world seven weeks early.

We were exceptionally lucky, after 24 hours of being ventilated and a further 24 hours on CPAP, Betsy was able to breathe on her own and it was now a journey of feeding and growing her. After 16 long days we finally were able to take Betsy home to start our new family life.

Throughout Betsy’s stay, we were immensely supported by the team at Wythenshawe Neonatal Unit, and we felt extremely lucky that we could take our baby home, but always at the back of our mind was the reality that life is so precious and how lucky we were in this situation. We are both too aware that we could have had a very different outcome and want to do all we can to help families in any way we can through the SPOONS charity.

We have an amazing team of runners who will be completing Wilmslow Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd March in order to raise £10,000 to support this amazing charity.”

Spoons' team of staff and volunteers are here to support families in Greater Manchester who are experiencing neonatal care.
