Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I am running the Leeds marathon on 12th May, to raise money for a charity called SDSUK. In August last year, our Daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Shwachman Diamond syndrome. A rare bone marrow condition.
Common symptoms of this include; pancreatic insufficiency, failure to thrive, dental problems, reduced levels of fat soluble vitamins, haematological abnormalities and reduced immune systems.
Those with SDS are also at higher risk of developing blood cancers.
There are only two adult clinics for SDS in the UK and it is so rare, that every donation given makes a direct impact on Patients lives. Help is therefore needed, for funding and research and to generate awareness of SDS.
SDSUK are there to support Patients like our little Lizzy and Families like ourselves. I am therefore running the marathon, to raise both awareness of this disease and also raise money for this amazing charity, which we are so grateful for.
We would be so grateful for any donations given.
Thank you,
Laura x
