Laura's fundraiser for Children With Cancer Fund (Polegate)

Laura Young is raising money for Children With Cancer Fund (Polegate)

Shakespeare Half Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

CWCF was set up in 1998 by Ursula & Chris Downton with Kirsty & James Denny. Now, with the help of other friends and family, we still go out having fun raising funds to grant wishes to families that live in East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and who have children that have been diagnosed with cancer.

Story

20 years ago, Jack, my fiancé,  was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer. Jack was very lucky and was a fighter so is in remission, to which we are all extremely grateful for.

Children with Cancer Fund supported Jack and his family throughout this difficult time through financial costs such as covering petrol for the daily journeys to and from the hospital as well as emotional support and a listening ear to Jacks parents. They also threw a Star Wars party to celebrate the end of treatment where Jack decided to paint his bald head green like Yoda! Jack and his family were incredibly looked after by this lovely charity and we owe a lot to them.

I have made the decision to try and give back as much as possible by fundraising for them. I will be running the following race events throughout the next year to challenge and push myself for this wonderful charity.

Upcoming:

26th April 2026 - Shakespeare’s Half Marathon

30th May 2026 - Children with Cancer 5k Run

25th October 2026 - Beachy Head 10k

2027 - another 10k and half marathon tbc

We all really appreciate anything that you are able to donate to help others that are in Jack and his families position. Thank you and to the people at Children with Cancer Fund.
