Laura's Running the Hackney Half for Macmillan Cancer Support

Hackney Half Marathon 2025 · 18 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! This year I'm taking on the challenge of my first ever half marathon - equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking.
I've taken on this challenge as a way to help fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support, a fantastic charity that has a huge impact on so many people, myself and my family included.
In 2021, my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and the Macmillan nurses played a crucial part in her care. My Mom sadly passed away in 2023, but to this day I'm so grateful for Macmillan and everything they were able to do for her. I feel that the very least I can do is fundraise to help ensure that other individuals suffering from cancer and their families continue to access this vital support.
I was also inspired by my Dad, who last year ran in the Edinburgh Marathon on the anniversary of my mom's death. It feels fitting to continue the tradition of transforming grief into something positive - though I'm not quite as mad as my Dad, a half marathon was plenty enough of a challenge for me!
So, I've kicked off my training and am well and truly on my way to conquering the 13.1m/21.1k! Anything that you can donate would be hugely appreciated and is going directly to Macmillan. Thank you all SO MUCH for your support, see you at the finish line!! xxx
