Laura's fundraiser for Manchester Foundation Trust Charity (Wythenshawe Hospital)

Laura Dench is raising money for Manchester Foundation Trust Charity

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Our incredible supporters will take on 26.2 miles in April in support of Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, helping to ensure continued excellence in treatment, research and care in our family of hospitals across Manchester and Trafford.

Story

I will be running the London Marathon 2026 in support of Wythenshawe Hospital and the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity - a cause very close to my family following my Mum's Breast Cancer Diagnosis back in 2022. She has had numerous surgeries and has been on continual treatment since then and to be honest, I’m not sure how she has dealt with it all so well while still being there for us every single day.

I will be running specifically for Wythenshawe Hospital which is home of the Nightingale centre - Europe’s first purpose built breast cancer prevention centre.

One of the hospital's current projects is to build the National Breast Imaging Academy which is set to transform breast services across the UK by training new staff and allowing up to 13,000 additional women to be seen each year for their mammogram and follow-up appointments.

Along the road to London, I have lots of exciting running adventures planned on the build up to London including:

- Cardiff Half Marathon

- Valencia Half Marathon

- Lisbon Half Marathon

- Prague Half Marathon

From MFT:

As a charity, our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We raise funds to make a difference for the people we treat – young and old – by making sure they receive the very best treatment in the very best facilities.

Our aim is simple: to raise funds to enhance the services we provide and the care we give to over 2 million patients who require our services every year. Our hospitals, clinical services and local care organisations provide the highest level of care for both adults and children across the North West and beyond.

With the help of our supporters we enable the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment, fund pioneering medical research to improve our understanding of illnesses and how best to treat them, and create welcoming, friendly environments that allow patients, and their families, to feel at ease during their time in our care.

To our amazing team of runners, thank you so much for your incredible support!
