Story
It’s official – I have a charity place in the London Marathon 2026 for an incredible cause: Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice! 🏃♀️💙
I was originally due to run in 2025, but life had other plans – I was growing a little human instead. So now, I’m coming back stronger, pram in one hand (metaphorically) and trainers laced. Because mums can do it too. 💪
Sue Ryder go above and beyond to provide the best possible care. We’ve lost too many incredible people –Tahani’s mum Nina King, Jamie’s mum Liz Stewart, Dom & Gabby's Nana Irene, Sandra Sugden, Tony Webb – and to anyone who has lost a loved one, I’m running this for you, too.
I’m honoured to have been chosen to raise funds for such a meaningful cause. My goal? £3,893 – a very specific number because that’s how much it costs to provide expert, end-of-life care by a Sue Ryder nurse. That care gives families time to say goodbye, time to be together, time for love. I want to give someone that gift. Your contributions will also go towards...
💙 £30 could fund an hour of expert care
💙 £65 could pay for one bereavement counselling session
💙 £720 funds 24hrs of care
So, what are we waiting for? My official training starts in November, but for now, I’m slowly getting back into fitness – building strength, finding my rhythm, and taking it one step (and one run) at a time.
I have linked my Strava so you can see how I'm getting on and follow my progress on Instagram @lauraslondonmarathon – expect plenty of runs, updates, training chats and yes… coffee & cake pit stops, obviously.
Let’s do this – for the people we’ve lost, the ones we love, and for every mum showing what’s possible. 💫
