Story
On the 25th January we will be hosting a Wellness Day at the North Queensferry Community Centre, to raise funds for Parkinson UK. Some fantastic people will be there to guide you through their sessions, including Pilates, Yoga and safe fall techniques.
I've only recently come to understand the wide-ranging effects Parkinson's can have on people, but along with that, I've also learned how crucial exercise is in helping individuals live well with the disease. The number of symptoms associated with Parkinson's is staggering, but regular physical activity plays a significant role in managing these symptoms. Exercise can greatly improve mobility, strength, and overall well-being, allowing people to enjoy a much better quality of life despite the challenges of the condition.
Funding Parkinson’s UK is crucial because it directly supports groundbreaking research aimed at finding better treatments and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s disease, which affects over 150,000 people in the UK.
1 in 37 people alive today in the UK will be diagnosed with Parkinson's in their lifetime!
The charity provides essential support services, helping individuals and families cope with the daily challenges of living with the condition. Without adequate funding, progress in understanding the causes of Parkinson’s and developing life-improving therapies could slow down, leaving many people without hope. Every donation brings us closer to breakthroughs that can change lives and offer a brighter future for those affected by this degenerative illness.
