This year I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise money for Nicola's, an incredible local charity that supports women through some of the most difficult times in their lives. They provide a safe space, practical help, and emotional support to women with a wide range of needs, and the work they do is truly life-changing.

This charity means so much to me because of Nicola herself. She was an amazing woman whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering support touched so many lives. She was failed in ways no one should ever be, and she didn't deserve the pain and suffering she endured. Despite everything, she continued to encourage and support others, and I will never forget the impact she had on me.

After 18 years of being told that my symptoms were "just bad periods," I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis last year. During one conversation with Nicola, she told me not to give up and to keep pushing until I got the answers I deserved. Those words stayed with me, and because I listened, I finally received the diagnosis I had been searching for. I will always be grateful to her for giving me the strength to keep fighting.

Walking the Edinburgh Kiltwalk is my way of saying thank you to Nicola and helping ensure that her legacy lives on through the charity that continues to support women every single day.
