On May 19th, what would have been my Dad's 65th birthday, I will attempt to run the Trail Des Paiens 100km Ultramarathon.

I've refrained from fundraising from previous events, as those of you who know me will know I don't go by halves and knew the right event would make itself known to me.

My Dad Steve, was a lifelong sufferer of depression and alcoholism, which eventually cost him his life. He was always an avid supporter of Mind and also ran several marathons.

There is a lot to be said about running and mental health. I've met a lot of runners and almost everyone I've spoken to uses it as a coping mechanism for life in one way or another.

As well as fundraising for Mind, I want to share awareness, stories and tips on running. Those of you struggling with mental health issues or with loved ones going through something - have you tried running?

Hopefully through this campaign people will be inspired to try running (or other sports!! but given the theme of the campaign the encouragement will lend itself mostly towards running), have more knowledge and resources on mental health, mental endurance, mindfulness and fitness and raise a lot of money for Mind to help those in need!
