Story
Thank you for visiting my page.
I am taking part in the Great North Run for the first ever time this year for my husband Bryan.
In December 2022, Bry was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. He spent a month in hospital learning to walk again after the tumour on his spine caused spinal cord compression for which he needed emergency surgery.
He then endured 14 cycles of intense inpatient chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiotherapy.
Sadly he only managed to get a 6 months remission before tumours were picked up on a CT scan, his sarcoma had returned but this time in his lungs.
He then had to start more intense inpatient chemotherapy and was randomised as part of a trial to receive an oral targeted therapy.
Sadly despite this, his latest CT showed growth in his tumours, his consultant is worried they are aggressive and the targeted therapy isn’t working as we hoped meaning his cancer is no longer curable. He has now started his 3rd line of treatment and going through another lot of IV chemotherapy.
I want to make him proud as he has never complained throughout all of this. He has faced it like a soldier and just got on with it, continued to be a dad to our two children, Theo, age 8 and Willow, age 3.
Our future is unclear but with your help raising funds for Sarcoma UK will help support vital research and support to people affected by Sarcoma across the UK.
Thank you for your support.
