My Story
After our son Eden was born (November 2024), during the early days of his care, things took a terrifying turn. The team at "Little Lives Big Journeys" transported him safely from Lincoln to Leicester, giving him the critical care he needed to survive and start his journey toward recovery. In that moment, they were our heroes, bringing calm into chaos, and hope when we felt hopeless.
Running for "Little Lives Big Journeys" gives me a purpose beyond just finishing a marathon. It allows me to turn that traumatic chapter into something powerful and positive. It gives me a chance to give back to the people who gave us so much, to help ensure they can continue to help other families in their moment of greatest need.
The Cause
The CenTre Neonatal Transport Team is made up of highly trained nurses and clinicians who safely transfer over 120 premature and critically ill babies every month across the region. They provide vital care during these journeys, often using specialist equipment to protect the babies. Through Little Lives Big Journeys, supported by Leicester Hospitals Charity, fundraising has already helped purchase cooling equipment, hearing protection, and advanced breathing support for these tiny patients. It has also funded essential training for the transport nurses, ensuring they stay at the forefront of neonatal care. Your support means this life-saving work can continue for families who need it most.
